Motor Testing
Critical Motor & Generator Testing

Off-line testing of critical motors and generators to assess health and diagnose issues. Prevent unplanned down time and trend equipment health for planned maintenance.

Services Specifics:

Motor Testing

  1. Offline motor testing using a Megger (AVO Biddle) AWA-IV/12, or a PdMA MCEMAX motor circuit analyzer.

    1. Gather information regarding the health of critical motors through a series of tests. (go to “Appendix A – Static”)

    2. Trend information over time to look for deteriorating conditions.

    3. Diagnose environmental issues that may contribute to premature failures.

    4. Prevent unwanted downtime by making planned replacements or maintenance based on testing information.

  2. Custom built motor testing spreadsheets to assist with trending and recommended testing schedule based on condition.

  3. Easy to understand exception reporting with recommendations.

Relay Testing

  1. Testing of protective relays using a Doble F6150 test set with Protection Suite 5.3 Professional software.

    1. Electromechanical, solid state, and microprocessor relays.

    2. Ensure your system’s protection is functioning properly.

Thermal Imaging Surveys

  1. Perform onsite surveys using a Flir E75 thermal imaging camera.

    1. Identify “hot spots” and potential issues before they become a problem that will cause downtime and/or damage.

    2. All equipment is under normal working conditions when these surveys are conducted.

    3. Follow NFPA 70E safety requirements when opening live panels to perform surveys.

  2. Level 2 thermal imaging certified technicians

  3. Easy to understand exception reporting with recommendations.

  4. AEU electricians can also make repairs if desired.

Patrial Discharge Surveys

  1. Perform onsite surveys of medium voltage electrical equipment using a UltraTEV Plus 2 Kit 3 Professional Pack.

    1. Able to survey equipment while energized under normal conditions.

    2. Do not need to open live equipment for these surveys.

  2. Custom built partial discharge spreadsheets to assist with trending and NFPA 70B compliance.

  3. Easy to understand exception reporting with recommendations.

Repairing or finding replacement parts for ageing equipment is often the best option available, but can often prove to be difficult. At APS we have a vast network of aftermarket suppliers that can remanufacture and supply obsolete and difficult to find parts. We can also reverse engineer and build particularly hard parts to find.
